Greater Cleveland Volunteers, formerly known as RSVP of Greater Cleveland, has served the community since 1972. At that time, the organization was merely a small program serving senior volunteers, and was a part of the City of Cleveland's Department of Health. Over the years, we grew to become an independent nonprofit organization, with our own tax-exempt status. Currently, we promote volunteerism and engage adults age 18 and over in service. we adopted our current name in 2009.
Our agency has provided volunteers to CMSD schools since our founding. We have managed the AARP Experience Corps Program ("EC", or "AARP EC") since 1997. Prior to that time, we ran a similar project for two years called Seniors for Schools.
We are governed by a Board of Directors, which at present consists of 23 individuals as well a 9 lifetime members. We are operating under our most recently adopted strategic plan, which covers the period of 2013-2016.
