Apex Learning proposes the implementation of Comprehensive Courses and Tutorials to assist with the metrics the district is targeting: subject and subgroup proficiency rates, graduation rates, student growth measures, attendance, percent of students who are college ready, and the percent of students that attend college. Below is an overview of Apex Learning’s Comprehensive Courses and Tutorials. Additional information is provided in the Program Description section of this proposal on page 13.
Apex Learning offers a robust catalog of more than 200 semester courses designed to meet specific needs of students, from building foundational skills to creating opportunities for advanced coursework. Comprehensive Courses — in math, science, English, social studies, world languages, Advanced Placement, and electives including Career and Technical Education — serve a range of programs where the requirement is for a comprehensive, standards-based curriculum that meets high school graduation requirements and can be used to grant students original credit or credit in a recovery situation.
Comprehensive Courses provide a complete course of study that offers breadth of standards coverage, depth of instruction, and integrated formative and summative assessment. The scope and sequence of each course is intentional, spiraling concepts within and between units to enable mastery of skills and concepts and the development of higher order thinking skills required for academic success.
